There
are so many things that God has so sweetly and graciously shown us in the
recent months about how Journey should move forward. It is humbling to know
that THE CREATOR OF THE WORLD AND ALL THINGS loves us and is directing our
path. He is doing this for you and me!
It
all started with the IF Gathering last year…God urged us to continue to
meet in safe places, break bread, and simply talk about Jesus and how to live
more like Him. We knew this could not be done just at Journey events; this was
something that we all needed in our EVERY DAY.
So,
we began to think and pray about how the Journey Ministry could impact our
women every day. We quickly realized it would not be the ministry itself,
but God himself that would do the work.
One
of the sweet slivers of knowledge God has given us is that we are “Better
Together”. We are better friends, wives, mothers, students, co-workers, and
women of faith...when someone in our EVERY DAY really knows us and helps
us know Jesus better. We knew we would have to do this TOGETHER.
Jesus
came so that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). I am pretty
sure that life abundant is full of friends and family we love, that know
us well, that push us into a kind of authentic faith that takes over our
life so we live in God ‘s peace and freedom surrounded by others who are doing
the same thing.
We
knew that God was leading Journey Women’s Ministry to a simple mission to
provide opportunities for all of us to connect in a deeper way to each other
and Jesus. What a vision to imagine all of us as stronger women of faith
and what a force to reckon with FOR SURE!
To
say it fully, here is our new Mission Statement:
This
is our simple mission of leading the way to “do life” better together...while
always pursuing Jesus in our own lives and encouraging those around us to do the
same in a safe and authentic way.
We
introduced the “&” sign at our “Better Together” event a few weeks ago. The
“&” sign is called the Ampersand. It has an incredible meaning that we
believe we will want to keep in front of us.
The Ampersand
“We were created to
connect to God and to one another in authentic community. The ampersand is a
connector. It takes two or more things and joins them together. It
is the space in between that symbolizes the importance of unity in the Body of
Christ. This takes all of us as broken people with
nothing in common and joins us together as family. We need each other as
we journey through each season of life, and for our mission to win hearts for
the Gospel!”
Isn't that so cool? We love what the Ampersand symbolizes and we believe this
is what God has been saying all along.. to take this space between us and do
something with it for His Glory! We believe this space needs to be filled
with His love practically and intentionally in our EVERY DAY.
We will gather often in Community Groups and with all the women of TCAL to grow in our relationships with each other and with Jesus!
We will always point you to God’s Word.
We will continually equip you to be fully unleashed for your purpose for Christ.
AND… we will always break bread… of some kind!
We will be posting many more blogs so that we can all follow God leading together and learn what it means to be “Better Together” in the coming months.
In Jesus,
Paula St. John
